Blurb: Danger seldom leaves its victims unscathed in the ways of seduction, and this lesson is one that sixteen-year-old Cassie Foster now knows all too well.
Nine months following the traumatic accident that claimed the life of her mother and sister, this high school junior has at last found a fresh start in the quiet town of New Haven, Maine. In the company of her best friends, Ian and Gwen, she’s bracing the usual turmoil of adolescence and taking all in stride… until the new transfer student, Jackson Matthews, comes walking into her life. He’s arrogant, sarcastic, roguish, devastatingly sexy, and the very last thing Cassie wants to entertain. But when circumstances drive these two together, she finds herself a bit too close for comfort as their bond intensifies. Plagued by unexplainable events, a sudden string of disappearances, and even a cult-related murder, Cassie begins to fear for her life. Is it all just a coincidence that these happenings began when this Casanova strolled into town, or has she in fact fallen for a real lady-killer, or worse?
My Review:
" "Wait for me to give the signal."
"What's that look like? You gonna break out into the funky chicken for me?" - Gwen and Cassie "
I was given this book for free in exchange for a honest review. ;)
I honestly really liked this book. The characters where amazing! The wording was mind boggling, but (yes there's the but) I felt that the aspect of this being a paranormal novel didn't really occur to the very end.
The main character's consist of Cassie, Ian and Jack. And obviously there's a wittle bit of a love triangle going on between them.
So Cassie has just moved away with her Dad too the little town New Haven, following up from her mother and sister's death. She is a great character and is one of the untouchables. Cassie is a good character, always trying to do the right thing. But she can be a bit blind when it comes to friendships and relationships.
We also have Jack our resident bad boy. He's sarcastic, charming and good looking which always equals trouble in Cassie's book. Jack is also one of the possible love interests for our beloved Cassie. Then finally we have Ian. Ian is the "nice guy" he is kind snarky and has an awesome sense of style. Ian is the sort of guy you would most defiantly want as your best friend. He is fun, kind and loves with his whole heart.
There you have it the main three, But we also have some important side roles such as Gwen the bubbly and overly bright best friend and Cassie's Dad who is just a really cool Dad.
When I first started reading, the plot went more along the lines of a murder mystery than a paranormal romance. The story was written beautifully, but the ending I felt was rushed in. The book builds up to the climax and it introduces a character you don't expect to be the bad guy. And that's what let's the book down, the romance is great, the characters where well developed but the ending...eh. It defiantly could have been better and the fact that we don't really get any information on the evil the book made the ending confusing.
We also had a cliff-hanger ending and that was just mean. Other than the end the book was great can't wait for the next in the series!
